Tyrek is a bright young man who has dedicated himself to both his studies and athletics. Currently living with his grandparents after a series of placements with other relatives, he has developed a strong sense of stability and purpose. With dreams of completing high school and attending Texas Tech University to play basketball, he is committed to achieving his goals. He particularly enjoys his science and math classes, finding them more engaging than his reading courses. Outside of academics, Tyrek is an active member of his youth group at church, where he attends weekly, finding community and support. Inspired by his own journey, both he and his brothers aspire to inspire other foster youth someday, hoping to be a guiding light for those facing similar challenges.

For Tyrek’s birthday, he is asking for a new mattress. As he continues to grow and get taller, his current mattress no longer provides the comfort and space he needs. A larger mattress would allow him to sleep comfortably and support his growing body. While in foster care with his grandmother, having a bed that fits his size and feels like his own is especially important. A new, larger mattress would help Tyrek feel secure, confident, and proud of his personal space, while also supporting his physical comfort and emotional well-being.
