Andy's father is currently incarcerated and struggles with addiction, while his mother's whereabouts are unknown due to an active warrant for her arrest. He is now living with his grandmother. Because of difficulties in getting him registered at a school, he is being homeschooled. Andy has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and is significantly behind in his studies due to the frequent school transfers he experienced before moving in with his grandmother. However, he is determined to catch up in school and eager to learn. Andy is excited about living with his grandmother, as it brings much-needed stability to his life.

Andy is asking for a new bed for his room at his grandmother's house. Having never owned a new bed, he currently relies on an air mattress after giving his old bed to his little brother. A new bed would greatly improve his comfort and allow him to get the restful sleep he needs.
