San Diego Youth ServicesJoanna is a passionate and determined young woman who really knows how to chase her dreams. Recently, she took a big step by moving from Los Angeles County to San Diego County, pushing herself out of her comfort zone to seek new experiences and growth. Although she’s still getting to know her new area and hasn’t made a ton of friends yet, she finds comfort in the strong bond she has with her sister. Joanna lives in a housing program, where she’s been showing a lot of stability and responsibility. She balances her weekends with work while studying in a medical program during the week, which shows just how dedicated she is to finishing her education and achieving her goals in the medical field. Juggling work and school is tough, but Joanna keeps her eyes on her goals and stays motivated. In her downtime, she loves doing her makeup, discovering new delicious foods, and relaxing at the beach. These activities help her unwind and recharge. Joanna’s resilience, strong work ethic, and positive attitude really show how committed she is to building a brighter future for herself.
Joanna is a determined and resilient young woman who continues to push forward even when life presents unexpected challenges. Recently, Joanna exited her EMT program due to personal circumstances she prefers to keep private. Prior to leaving the program, she had already made the decision to leave her job so she could fully focus on completing her training. As a result, she is currently without an income. Despite this setback, Joanna has not allowed the situation to hold her back. Over the past two weeks, she has been actively applying to multiple retail and flower shop positions, showing strong motivation to get back to work as soon as possible. Her goal is to regain stability so she can cover her basic needs, including groceries and transportation costs. Joanna is also taking responsible steps to access additional support by applying for food stamps, but she is currently waiting for the approval process to be completed. In the meantime, groceries have become a major source of stress while she works toward securing employment and assistance. A grocery gift card would provide Joanna with immediate relief during this transition period. It would allow her to purchase essential food items while she continues applying for jobs and waiting for her food assistance application to be processed. This support would help ease some of the pressure she is currently experiencing and allow her to stay focused on finding employment and rebuilding stability. This is wish 1 of 2.
