An adaptive bike for Rellic who dreams of riding a bike on his own

RB, 10 years old, IL

Equipping the Called Foster and Crisis Closet

Rellic was placed in foster care due to his special needs, which required him to move over two hours away to find a family willing to support him. He is extremely active and very curious, always eager to explore and try new things. Rellic loves to keep up with his foster siblings and engage in various activities. In addition to being separated from his parents, he misses his brother, who was placed in a local foster home.

Rellic loves spending time with his foster siblings, but he is unable to ride a bike. He enjoys putting on helmets and pretending to ride. Due to his disabilities, riding a regular two-wheeled bike isn't possible for him. He would greatly benefit from an adaptive tricycle that is the right size for him, allowing him to feel included as his siblings go bike riding. With spring approaching, now is the perfect time to help him achieve this goal while he awaits his future. Learning to ride this adaptive bike will empower Rellic with an important life skill—independent transportation and recreation. He will truly enjoy family biking activities with his new foster family, which will help him feel loved and part of the group.
