Purple was placed in foster care because of a domestic violence situation with her biological mother and stepfather. After some time, she was able to reunite with her mother. Despite the challenges she faced, Purple is a smart and creative young person. Throughout her time in foster care, she moved between different homes and shelters. She actively supports her mother and takes care of her younger brother, who has autism. Purple is determined and has a strong interest in attending Cal-Poly University, with the goal of graduating from their engineering program.

Purple has experienced time in foster care due to living in an unsafe family environment. As a result, she has faced trauma and mental health challenges and is receiving supportive services. She dreams of just spending time being a normal teen and this summer, she hopes to attend a week-long overnight camp. At Camp Ocean Pines, she will experience groth, gain independence, and make lifelong friends. The camp offers a supportive environment for teens to be themselves and participate in fun activities such as ocean kayaking, beach trips, tie-dyeing, making friendship bracelets, animal encounters, baking, and performing arts. Purple’s biological mother is committed to covering part of the camp cost and has already secured a discount, but they still need some financial assistance. This support would help reduce their financial burden and make this great opportunity accessible for Purple.
