Mecklenburg County Guardian ad LitemJoel is non-verbal autistic so has difficulty expressing his wants and desires. He is currently in a group home and attends middle school during the week where he enjoys being around classmates. Joel has a digital tablet that he enjoys and spends a lot of time watching videos and listening to music. When provided the opportunity, Joel enjoys playing with things that move that stimulate his senses.
Joel is non-verbal, but his eyes light up when he has sensory toys to play with. He especially enjoys items that are squishy, spin, or vibrate, as they help keep him engaged and calm. This sensory set would be a wonderful birthday gift for him and help meet his sensory needs in a fun and comforting way. It would give him safe, enjoyable tools to explore and stay regulated throughout his day.
