Kia's mother has offered to take the older children for a short visit, leaving Kia with only her youngest children for a brief period. For the first time in a long while, she will have an opportunity to focus on herself and take a much-needed break from the constant demands of parenting and survival mode. Between raising five children, navigating shelter living, attending appointments, and working toward housing stability, she carries an enormous amount of responsibility every day.
