Aaliyah is a creative and determined teenager focused on her future. She has been studying diligently in school as she works toward her goals of finding a summer job, learning to drive, and preparing for college after next year. Aaliyah is a kind and thoughtful young woman who enjoys creating things. Making art and doing crafts are some of her favorite ways to de-stress.

Aaliyah has been a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters for about five years. When she first joined, she requested a Big Sister who shared her passion for art, an interest that wasn’t commonly shared by those around her. Art has always been an outlet for her, helping her feel better and stay calm during tough times. Over the years, Aaliyah and her Big Sister have developed a strong, supportive relationship by engaging in various art and craft projects and having regular conversations. Spending time with her Big Sister has consistently lifted her spirits during difficult moments. This summer, Aaliyah has a lot on her plate, including starting her first job, learning to drive, and preparing for her senior year of high school. These new challenges have brought some stress. She would love to spend quality time with her Big Sister doing one of their favorite activities: pottery painting. This outing would be especially meaningful for Aaliyah.
