Beyond juvenile justice reform, Nykia hopes to be a part of the movement to close down the last youth prison in the state. Nykia believes in investing in alternative programs like recreational programs, increased educational opportunities, and job training and placement access.
Nykia is preparing for surgery on September 14 while also adjusting to the sudden loss of her job. With her income unexpectedly disrupted, she's trying to make sure she has what she needs for recovery without adding more financial stress. Comfortable clothing would help her feel at ease as she rests and eases back into her routine. A gift card would let her pick out pieces that work for her recovery now and stay useful well beyond it.
