Collins' early childhood was marked by uncertainty. Placed in foster care young, he learned to be stronger than any child should have to be and spent years moving from one home to the next. Today, his family is whole again. He and his mom have a safe, secure place of their own, and with the support of community resources and programs like Leaders in Training, they are doing well.

Collins would like a backpack he can hike and camp with for years to come. Through the Leaders in Training program, Collins can explore the outdoors, build confidence on the trail, and discover that the choices he makes are his own. He knows with confidence that they can lead somewhere good. He will make positive memories with his backpack that will carry him through challenges, and it is important that he knows it is his, not just borrowed.
