Wendell is a smart, motivated young person currently in foster care who is preparing for an exciting new chapter in his life. By the end of the year, he'll be transitioning into transitional housing and is genuinely looking forward to becoming more independent. He's currently part of the Department of Rehabilitation program, receiving employment training while also working part-time, and he hopes to start community college in the spring. As he enters adulthood, Wendell is excited to keep learning, growing, and building a future for himself.

Rice is one of Wendell's favorite foods, something that's always been a regular part of meals in his home since his foster mom is Filipino. As he prepares to move into transitional housing, he's excited to learn how to cook and become more self-sufficient, and a rice cooker would let him make rice quickly and easily on his own. It's the kind of item that would go with him into his new home and help him build real confidence preparing his own meals as he starts this next chapter.
