Ariel spent 18 months in foster care while her mom worked toward reunification. She and her siblings are now in kinship care. She is sweet, loves her family and being outside, and is 11 years old, figuring out who she is.

Ariel just started middle school, a time when figuring out who you are can feel like its own kind of adventure. She's begun exploring her personal style, and learning to straighten her own hair is one small but meaningful part of that. It's a chance to experiment, express herself, and build a bit of independence in how she presents herself to the world. A hair straightener would give Ariel the tool she needs to start doing that on her own, letting her take ownership of something that's entirely hers as she figures out who she wants to be.
