Ariel spent 18 months in foster care while her mom worked toward reunification. She and her siblings are now in kinship care. She is sweet, loves her family and being outside, and is 11 years old, figuring out who she is.

With her therapist's support, Ariel has discovered writing helps her feel calmer. What started as a coping tool has turned into a genuine passion, and now she spends hours every day dreaming up new story ideas and characters. Right now, though, her stories are scattered across whatever paper she can find, and a Chromebook would give her one place to keep them all, to return to, build on, and watch grow over time. Ariel has even started talking about writing her own book, and having a computer would give her the tool she needs to take that dream seriously and actually start working toward it.
