In 2022, Ashlin was found by police injured and living on the street. At the time, she was identified as having significant developmental delays and had left her father’s home after experiencing physical abuse. Ashlin went on to live in several placements and group homes before finding a safe and stable home in an adult residential care facility through the San Diego Regional Center. She loves making jewelry, especially beaded necklaces, and was proud to sell some of her pieces at a recent charity auction benefiting an adult day program.

Ashlin loves Halloween and looks forward to her birthday each year since the two occasions are so close together. This year, while adjusting to a new placement in a care facility, she has been worried about whether she will be able to celebrate her birthday. Ashlin’s birthday wish is to attend SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream, combining her love of Halloween with a special birthday celebration. She already has her bumblebee costume ready and even made a beaded necklace to wear for the occasion.
