Mateo recently entered kinship foster care after a major family loss. His caregiver describes him as one of the sweetest, most loving, and thoughtful kids you could meet, and he helps with chores without being asked. He's quiet and gentle and loves gaming. He just started at a new school, which made him nervous, but he's taking each new challenge one day at a time.

This wish would let Mateo shop for clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and other everyday essentials that meet his needs and reflect his personal style. Being able to choose these items for himself would provide a sense of independence and confidence, something especially meaningful during a time when so many decisions have been out of his control. Having clean, comfortable clothing and the necessities to care for himself would also help him feel more confident around his peers and focus on simply being a kid. Granting this wish would not only meet his immediate needs but also give him what every child deserves: the chance to feel comfortable, confident, and proud of who he is.
