Krissy has faced many challenges throughout her life. With her father incarcerated and her mother struggling with substance abuse, she was often left to care for her sibling with disabilities at a young age. Despite these hardships, she has shown incredible strength and resilience. Since entering foster care, she has continued to work hard in school while maintaining a job. She is excited to take the next step toward independence by entering the Extended Foster Care program. She has overcome so much and continues working toward a bright, successful future for herself.

Krissy is turning 18 and getting ready to move into her first apartment through the Extended Foster Care program. She is excited to be independent, and she can already picture the space she wants to make her own. She hopes to bring it to life with a few pieces, including a full-length mirror, wall decor, rugs, a laundry basket, and kitchen utensils so she can start preparing her own meals. Each item would add comfort and personality, turning four bare walls into a home. It would ease her nerves about starting out and help her feel at ease in her new space.
