Voices for Children - San DiegoMica is an incredibly caring and thoughtful teenager who enjoys sports, music, drawing, and video games. He entered foster care at age 11 and has lived in seven placements over the past five and a half years. He is succeeding in his classes, working toward obtaining his driver's permit, and has started looking for a part-time job as he prepares for his future. Mica spends a lot of time outdoors playing basketball, participating in church activities, camping, and fishing. He also enjoys quieter moments at home playing video games with the other young men in his foster home. Although he enjoys interacting with his foster family and friends, he sometimes becomes overstimulated and needs time alone to calm down and relax. To help himself self-regulate, Mica enjoys watching TV, drawing, and doing other crafts.
Mica really enjoys playing video games and would love his own game console. He is patient and thoughtful and enjoys spending time with the other young men at his foster home, but he would greatly benefit from a device of his own where he can retreat when he needs quiet time to himself. His holiday wish is for a Nintendo Switch where he can build worlds, race cars, go on adventures, and play at his own pace. His own game console would give him a little corner of the house that is truly his, a source of joy, and a way to feel special and seen.
