OSW CRT - DanielleJerry is an incredibly hardworking man who came to this country to pursue the American Dream. While here, he also met the love of his life, Nelly, and they shared a wonderful home for years before she suddenly passed away tragically in that same home. The memories of that day haunt Jerry, since it took the ambulance over an hour to arrive once called. Because of this, Jerry is struggling to stay in the home they shared and hopes to get a fresh start someday and carry on her memory.
Jerry lost Nelly, the love of his life, when she died unexpectedly at just 45 years old, leaving behind people who loved her deeply and a dog who was her whole heart. Nelly loved Messi so much that she worried about what would happen to him if she were no longer there. Her final wish was that, if no one could care for him, he be euthanized rather than risk being harmed or suffering in a shelter. The truth is, finding the right care for Messi is complicated. He weighs more than 110 pounds and struggles with many people. He is very friendly with other dogs, but he has bitten both Nelly’s best friend and her mom in the past. (Neither bite required stitches.) Messi needs specialized training to have a chance at a safe future. Nelly’s boyfriend, Jerry, is devastated by her loss. He loved her so much, and he wants to honor that love by giving Messi a chance to live. Jerry has agreed to remain in the home he and Nelly shared for another month so a trainer can work with Messi there. But even though Jerry works two jobs, he cannot afford the rent on his own. The cost of training, supplies, and medical care is also more than he can manage. Here is what we are hoping to raise: $1,200 toward one month of rent, $1,000 for specialized in-home training, $300 for supplies and enrichment items, and $250 for vaccines and bloodwork, with a cushion for other expenses that may arise. Time is limited, and every contribution will help. If you’re able to give any amount, you can help Jerry keep Messi in a familiar home while he gets the support he needs. If you can’t give, sharing this wish can still make a difference, too. ***We understand that this story may bring up strong emotions. Please honor Nelly’s life and her love for Messi by donating, sharing, or leaving a positive comment. If you don’t have something helpful to share, please don’t share anything at all.
