The Friends of Foster CareEden writes letters to God in a notebook with a worn cover. She writes about her day, her worries, and the small things she’s thankful for, and she ends every entry the same way: “Thank you for being here.” Eden entered foster care and has lived in several homes, each one a fresh start she didn’t choose. Through every change, her faith has been the one thing that stayed steady. It gave her a quiet place to bring her fears, and a sense that she was never completely alone, even in a room full of strangers. Eden is gentle, thoughtful, and a little shy, and she is still learning to feel comfortable in her own skin. She worries about how she looks, about fitting in, and about whether she is enough. She dreams of becoming a youth counselor or children’s ministry leader, someone who helps other kids know they’re loved.
Eden’s journal is where she tells the truth about how she feels, and a pink bow journal would give her a beautiful, special place to keep her words. Writing every night helps her process her day, give thanks, and feel close to the faith that steadies her. A journal that’s lovely to look at and hold would make that nightly ritual even more meaningful. For a girl who has so little that is truly private, a journal is a safe, sacred space.
