Eden, 15 years old, VA
Eden writes letters to God in a notebook with a worn cover. She writes about her day, her worries, and the small things she’s thankful for, and she ends every entry the same way: “Thank you for being here.” Eden entered foster care and has lived in several homes, each one a fresh start she didn’t choose. Through every change, her faith has been the one thing that stayed steady. It gave her a quiet place to bring her fears, and a sense that she was never completely alone, even in a room full of strangers. Eden is gentle, thoughtful, and a little shy, and she is still learning to feel comfortable in her own skin. She worries about how she looks, about fitting in, and about whether she is enough. She dreams of becoming a youth counselor or children’s ministry leader, someone who helps other kids know they’re loved.
