An Alienware Gaming Laptop for Elijah to be able to maintain friendships and socialization
Posted Mar 17, 2017
Elijah has been removed from his home on five separate occasions. Elijah is highly intelligent and excels with anything technological and his favorite subject in school is History. Due to the many moves and school changes, Elijah's only consistent friendships have been those he formed online. Elijah did have a gaming laptop; however his mother destroyed it during a recent bout with substance abuse which led to another removal. Elijah is asking specifically for the Alienware computer with a fast gaming processor to best connect with the peers he has online. Elijah struggles with depression and the social connections he has formed online help calm his emotional state. The resource parent attempted to provide a computer for Elijah; however found that they are incapable of running the software and games that Elijah likes to play. The caseworker is requesting this laptop stating that "This child has experienced some of the worst situations that a child in Division custody can withstand, including his last removal occurring only a month after being returned home. He has developed clear depressive symptoms and a feeling of complete lack of control over his life. By giving Elijah something he really wants and that he can call his own, we can begin to help him establish some control and ownership while working to promote resiliency and self confidence." This wish is for a specific laptop that allows him to play these games.
