Some new dorm essentials for Yvette who will be attending college this fall

Posted Jul 11, 2018
Yvette is a current foster youth she was very involved in leadership and the arts in high school. She is excited to start her journey attending a four-year university this fall. Yvette will be living in the dorms and would love to have some help in making her dorm room feel like a home. She has so many ideas that will help create the perfect living space!

Yvette is 23 years old and lives in CA

Yvette is a freshman at university. In high school she was very involved in marching band and competed at a very high level at many regional and state tournaments. With Yvette and her sister (both foster youth) attending four-year universities they are beating many odds as foster youth pursuing college degrees. It is still too early to tell what Yvette wants to do after graduation, but she is very hardworking and has many interests (i.e. art, science, music) whatever she does we are sure she will be successful.

Joan grants the wish for Yvette! Thanks Joan.

"Dear Yvette, I am thrilled to be able to grant your wish. I remember decorating my dorm room with my freshman year roommate - even though my college experience took place many, many years ago. We were both creative people and our environment was very important to us. It sounds as though you share those traits. Congratulations on your past success and best wishes for the future. Your friend, Joan"
