A Laptop for Lauren who is determined to be a Pre-Med Student by 2020

Posted Jun 10, 2019
A laptop is a necessity for a senior in high school bound for college as a Pre-Med Student. Lauren's previous laptop died after 7 years of heavy use by this Straight A student. Her high school and the universities to which she's applied require a laptop. Her wish is for a gift card to The Apple Store so she can purchase a Macbook Pro because of its functionality, long use, and quality of support through Apple Care. Her part time job and her foster family will also be putting money toward the purchase.

Lauren is 21 years old and lives in CA

Lauren was just awarded at the end of her junior year and held a 4.0 through her entire high school experience despite the abuse and neglect she was experiencing at home. She plays on the tennis team, volunteers at a hospital and holds a part time job. She drove herself to therapy 3x a week before she entered foster care, and when she was removed from her home by CFS she reached out to her friends to help find a healthy home and a solution to the challenges she was experiencing. She is applying to colleges and her goal is to be a pre-med student in the year 2020. She is working with a college counselor, has gone on two college trips with her foster family and has also researched local colleges on her own.

"This is an amazing gift for an amazing youth! Thank you so much for your generosity AND your speed in granting this wish. Both lift a huge weight off the foster family's shoulders as they contemplated funding the purchase completely by themselves. As a foster parent myself, I can tell you that the stipend we receive to offset the cost of caring for these children quickly disappears as we purchase clothes and food, pay for outings, and cover the gas used to drive them to school, visits with bio family, team meetings, doctor/dentist/therapist visits, etc. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!"
