Shakiya has been in foster care for just a short while, and loves basketball! She is on her school's girls' basketball team. She is very studious, and knows she has to be to be able to play basketball. She would like to go on to college, but hasn't decided where. She is interested in getting a basketball scholarship to help her through college. Shakiya is friendly and kind, but tends to want to stay out of the drama that she feels others find themselves in. She likes to keep her room neater vs. cluttered, claiming herself a "neat freak".

Shakiya is wanting to get her own silverware set. She says that the silverware available to her is very limited because people take them to their rooms and it takes a while for the utensils to be returned. She wants more immediate access when she wants to eat.
