Indigo, 19 years old, MI

Indigo is a resilient young adult who has worked hard to get to where she is today. She entered foster care when she was 7 years old and was adopted at age 12. When she turned 18, she was asked to leave her adoptive parents’ home and had to figure out the next steps of adulthood much sooner than most young people her age. Indigo stayed with her friend’s parents, who opened their home to her and supported her through her final year of high school, even while facing challenges of their own. Their kindness gave Indigo the stability she needed to keep going, stay focused, and reach an important milestone. Indigo is determined, hardworking, and hopeful. She has faced a lot of change and uncertainty, but she continues to keep moving forward.
