One Simple WishEach year only 2% of former foster youth attend and graduate from college. Many young people did not have the guidance or financial means to apply for and pursue higher education when aging out of care, despite many having aspirations and the drive to do so.
Every year nearly 500,000 children are impacted by abuse, neglect and trauma and spend time in our nation’s foster care system. It can be lonely, confusing, and a bit scary. Similarly, each year over 22,000 young people will age out, without finding permanency. The Betty and Bud wish fund will be established to support the wishes made by individuals who have aged out of foster care, ensuring that they can always have supportive adults who will be there. This fund will help to quickly meet these needs and remind young adults that they are surrounded by love, hope, and joy.
