Mellanie is a young woman who grew up in foster care. She graduated from college with a degree in Psychology. She faced a difficult childhood due to her mother's mental illness and their low-income situation. As a teenager, she and her sister entered foster care because their home life was abusive and unstable. After graduating, Mellanie reconnected with her mother and moved in with her. However, her mother eventually kicked her out, leaving her homeless. After several months on the street, she found housing and started working at a clinic for children with autism. In February 2024, she suffered a serious back injury at work and has been adjusting to temporary disability since then.

Mellanie's wish is for a Target gift card so she can buy essential items that will help her manage her disability. Since her back injury in February 2024, she has been temporarily disabled and experiences constant pain every day. This gift card will enable Mellanie to purchase orthopedic shoe inserts, a shower assistance bar, a standing bedside handrail, a heating pad, and a new mattress topper. These items will significantly improve Mellanie's quality of life and assist her with her daily activities. This request has been split into three wishes to allow for a successful shopping trip!
