Voices for Children - San DiegoJackson is a cheerful and playful teenager who loves bright colors and music. He entered foster care as a baby after his father abused him, which caused a traumatic brain injury. This injury left Jackson unable to move and speak. His first foster case ended with guardianship in 2013, but when his guardian became very ill, he returned to foster care in 2019. Since then, he has lived with the same foster family, who love him very much. Even though he faces daily medical challenges and pain, Jackson stays happy and loves to have fun. He enjoys playing pranks on his teachers and making funny sounds and faces to make others laugh.
Jackson cannot speak, but he communicates through gestures, sounds, and eye movements. He shows joy with big smiles and laughter. He loves music, especially during the school's weekly music circle. His teachers have noticed he enjoys playing wind instruments and often asks to play them during free time. For the holidays, he wishes for his own small set of musical instruments to further explore his interest. Music helps him connect with others, especially in group activities.
