Kenia is a foster youth who has faced numerous challenges in her life. She deeply cares about her family and roots, often expressing how much she misses her home country of El Salvador and the family she left behind. Kenia has a strong bond with her little sister, whom she helped raise, and she remains a steadfast support for her sister while navigating the foster care system. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Kenia continues to set goals for her future and aspires to become a lawyer so she can advocate for children who have experienced similar circumstances. To cope with the various challenges she faces, Kenia enjoys playing softball and engaging in art activities.

Kenia has faced many challenges in foster care, but her love for art remains a constant source of joy and expression. Since she sometimes struggles to articulate her feelings, her therapist has encouraged her to use art to communicate, which is why she wants an art kit. Having her own supplies would allow her to express her emotions more freely and connect with her mother during visitations through her artwork. Kenia’s caregiver has noticed her passion for drawing, as she often spends her free time creating. An art kit would empower Kenia to continue using art as her voice, helping her navigate difficult times and express herself meaningfully.
