A tablet for Andy to keep up with homeschooling
Andy, 14 years old, OR
Wish submitted by:
Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, IncAndy's father is currently incarcerated and struggles with addiction, while his mother's whereabouts are unknown due to an active warrant for her arrest. He is now living with his grandmother. Because of difficulties in getting him registered at a school, he is being homeschooled. Andy has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and is significantly behind in his studies due to the frequent school transfers he experienced before moving in with his grandmother. However, he is determined to catch up in school and eager to learn. Andy is excited about living with his grandmother, as it brings much-needed stability to his life.
Andy is currently homeschooled and is behind in his education because he has transferred schools multiple times. He is struggling in both reading and math. Having a tablet would allow him to access extra educational games to help improve his skills. Plus, he needs the capability to use two screens for his lessons, one for video calls with his teacher and another for researching information. Due to his limited reading and writing skills, he would also benefit from the ability to record instructions, enabling him to listen to them later while completing his homework.
