Day is a fighter and a resilient young man who hopes to make something of himself one day. He is a survivor of domestic violence and is currently in foster care. Despite having a learning disability, he is doing everything he can to maintain his grades in school. One of the hardest challenges he has faced is the separation from his younger sister. The two of them were very close, but they had to be separated in order to find appropriate placements. Despite all the difficulties he has endured, Day strives to keep a positive attitude. He aspires to attend college and study engineering. He truly believes that, in the future, he will look back and see that everything he has gone through was necessary for him to achieve his destiny.

Day’s birthday is coming up, and this year, he wants it to be different. With such a rough start in life and being in foster care, his birthday was often just another day—sometimes good, sometimes difficult, but rarely the special celebration a birthday should be. This year, Day wants to create a happy memory by gathering with his family at his favorite restaurant to celebrate together. Being surrounded by the people he loves, enjoying a special meal, and simply feeling celebrated would mean so much to him.
