Kalaya is a resilient young woman currently in foster care who is working hard to complete her high school education despite the challenges she has faced. With so much change and uncertainty in her life, she continues to show determination and focus, understanding that earning her diploma is a major step toward stability and independence. Balancing school responsibilities while navigating the foster care system requires strength, maturity, and perseverance, and Kalaya demonstrates all of those qualities. She remains committed to her goals, knowing that her education is the foundation for future opportunities.

Kalaya is truly committed to building a career in the medical field while juggling her job providing in-home support to senior citizens. This experience not only enriches her understanding of healthcare but also helps her as she pursues her associate’s degree at community college, working toward becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Right now, she's using a borrowed laptop from her school to keep up with assignments and stay engaged in her classes, but she knows that having her own reliable computer would be a big boost as she prepares to move on to university. Recently, she even gave her newly granted laptop to her younger brother, who also needs a computer for school. By providing Kalaya with her own laptop, we would be making a meaningful investment in her education and future in healthcare.
