Jacob grew up experiencing significant emotional and physical abuse and has faced repeated instability throughout his adult life. Three different times, he has had to completely start over with little to nothing, yet he has continued working tirelessly to rebuild and provide a stable life for his son. As a single father, Jacob has carried the responsibility of supporting and caring for his son largely on his own. Since the passing of his mother, who was his main source of support, that responsibility has become even heavier. Despite everything he has endured, Jacob remains devoted to his son and focused on creating the security and stability for him that Jacob did not always have growing up.

Jacob is about to make the hardest trip of his life. His father is in hospice, and Jacob is driving six hours with his young son to say goodbye for the last time, a trip he can't afford to miss but also can't fully afford. A gift card would cover meals along the way and the unexpected costs of traveling far from home with a child, so money isn't one more thing weighing on him during an already unbearable time. This support would let Jacob set aside the financial stress and simply be present with his father, in what may be their final moments together.
