Having grown up in foster care, Irene chose to use her experience and talents to give back to foster youth. Irene is currently advocating for bills to be passed to change the California foster system. With her advocacy, Bill AB1512 was passed which allows survivor benefits to pass to foster youth instead of being taken unethically by counties. In addition, Irene creates wellness and gratitude journals that help foster youth with their personal development. She is working on creating a digital wellness course that helps foster youth learn how to journal.

Irene is proud to be going back to school to pursue a degree in homeopathic medicine. She has always been passionate about helping others, and feels this will give her the opportunity to make meaningful and far-reaching impact for her patients. As she works toward her degree, Irene is hoping for some basic tools and equipment to support her learning. As part of this, Irene is requesting a blood pressure monitor that she can use at home and in the clinic.
