An Xbox One for Javon who games as a way to cope with stress
Posted Nov 6, 2017
Javon was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and struggles with using the left side of his body. Research has shown that video game consoles help children, especially with cerebral palsy, gain mobility, independence, and more opportunities to engage with their peers. Children diagnosed with cerebral palsy have difficulty moving their hands and wrists making it hard to manipulate a video game controller consistently. While it is important for children with cerebral palsy to practice using a controller, the Kinect attachment allows the user’s body to act as a controller.
