Car insurance assistance for Laura who has aged out of foster care

Posted Jul 20, 2019
Laura is asking for help with one month of car insurance. She recently was in a car accident and her premium went up which was an unexpected cost. Given that it is summer, she is financially strapped due to lack of financial aid. She is wishing for one-time assistance with her car insurance which she very much needs to get to work and fulfill her job requirements. As a part time student and with the current cost of living, she is struggling to successfully transition to adulthood and fears this debt will further prevent her from reaching her dreams.

Laura is 30 years old and lives in CA

Laura is a young adult who left care at 21 through extended foster care. Since her emancipation she has been successful in maintaining her housing while working in the child welfare field. She is a few credits shy from receiving her Associates and looks forward to moving forward in her career. She is goal-oriented and was active in a national foster youth organization that helped pass legislature for housing for foster youth. She is a great self advocate and a great reflection of a youth who utilized all foster care resources effectively.

Awesome Human grants the wish for Laura! Thanks Awesome Human.

"Hi, Laura. I'm so sorry about your accident and I hope you're feeling okay. I understand how hard it can be during the summers, and I'm so happy that you reached out for help with the insurance. Keep hanging in there, and I'm hoping that this helps you get to work and school so you can achieve everything you want. You can do this! Jenny"
