A Tablet for Thomas who is struggling with his schooling

Thomas, 16 years old

Department of Children and Family Services

Thomas is a sweet and talkative young boy who is in placement with his younger brother. He struggled initially in placement with structure and eating more nutritiously, however he has improved his behavior in placement. Last school year, Thomas won awards for "Most Improved" and "Citizenship." Thomas likes to drink hot chocolate as a way to de-stress. Thomas has an IEP and is diagnosed with a specific learning disability. Thomas can be described as a happy-go-lucky and resilient child despite the trauma he witnessed with his mother.

Thomas is a talkative and social child with a specific learning disability. Thomas struggles with spelling the titles of songs he likes. Thomas cannot spell words like "bed" and "cereal which he struggled with. Thomas also struggled with multiplication. I am therefore requesting an educational tablet to help Thomas improve his spelling skills and mathematical skills. With this wish granted, Thomas will benefit from learning his basic foundation in a fun interactive way as Thomas loves using electronics. This would mean a lot for Thomas as he currently does not have a tablet of his own and has borrowed his foster brother's laptop without permission.
