A basketball for Kim to practices shooting hoops
Kim, 17 years old, NC

Foster Parent Association of WilkesKim entered foster care during the holidays, one of the hardest times to be uprooted. She came in scared and angry. She has been settling in since then. Starting a new school was tough, but she is finding her footing. She feels safe now. Kim has a new dog she loves, movies to watch, and food in the house.
Kim dreams of having a vibrant orange basketball, its surface gleaming under the afternoon sun, so she can shoot some hoops in her driveway. The rhythmic sound of the ball bouncing on the concrete will provide her with a much-needed escape, allowing her to melt away the stress of the day. After tackling the challenges of school, she envisions herself dribbling and taking shots, feeling the breeze against her skin as she loses herself in the game. This simple joy will be her sanctuary—a way to unwind and recharge on those tough days.
Foster Parent Association of Wilkes requests this wish for Kim.
