Katie has been through a lot in her life, but she has remained strong through it all. She grew up in foster care and later survived human trafficking, experiencing trauma and instability from a very young age. Even after everything she faced, Katie has stayed kind, loving, and determined to give her children a better life. Today, Katie is a caring mother who puts her whole heart into raising her children in a safe and loving home. One of her favorite things to do is take her kids outside and teach them the names of flowers. These simple walks give her family moments of joy, learning, and connection, and they mean so much to her because they reflect the peaceful childhood she always wished she could have had. Katie’s strength and bravery truly stand out. After surviving so many difficult experiences, she continues to choose love, hope, and healing for her family. She is working hard to create a happy and stable future for her children.

After everything Katie and her children have been through, having a peaceful and comfortable home means so much to them. Katie is wishing for a sofa so her family can finally relax together at the end of the day, enjoy quiet evenings, watch movies, and share simple moments of comfort that have been hard to have before. A sofa would also help Katie better welcome social workers and advocates who continue to support her and her children. Right now, she has very little seating in her home and would like to be able to offer guests a comfortable place to sit. This simple piece of furniture would bring more comfort, dignity, and connection into Katie’s home as she continues working toward building a safe, stable, and loving environment for her children.
