Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption AssociationColton has spent many years in residential treatment, but he is proud of how far he has come and the positive choices he is making for his future. He has made friends, built meaningful relationships, and learned that he has the ability to walk away from negative peer pressure and make decisions that are best for him. Colton has also grown more comfortable talking about his feelings with his foster parents, showing the maturity and self-awareness he has worked hard to develop. He has big goals for his future, including attending college, exploring a career in the military after high school, and getting a part-time job next summer as he continues learning the skills he needs to become more independent.
An electric bike would give Colton a valuable opportunity to build independence while showing the adults in his life that he can be trusted with responsibility. Riding it to school each day would help him practice following expectations, managing his time, and taking ownership of his daily routine. As Colton works toward getting a part-time job, the e-bike would also provide dependable transportation to and from work, giving him more opportunities to earn money, gain work experience, and develop important life skills. Having reliable transportation would allow Colton to participate more independently in school, work, and activities without always having to depend on others for a ride. Colton knows this transition will not always be easy, and he may make mistakes along the way, but he is asking for the patience and encouragement to keep moving forward. He just needs a chance to show that, with support and trust, he can make positive choices and become the independent and successful young man he knows he can be.
