Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption AssociationColton has spent many years in residential treatment, but he is proud of how far he has come and the positive choices he is making for his future. He has made friends, built meaningful relationships, and learned that he has the ability to walk away from negative peer pressure and make decisions that are best for him. Colton has also grown more comfortable talking about his feelings with his foster parents, showing the maturity and self-awareness he has worked hard to develop. He has big goals for his future, including attending college, exploring a career in the military after high school, and getting a part-time job next summer as he continues learning the skills he needs to become more independent.
Colton is also asking for a helmet so he can safely enjoy the independence that comes with having an electric bike. He understands that riding to school, work, and around his community comes with responsibility, and he wants to make sure he is protecting himself while doing so. Having a properly fitted helmet will give Colton an important layer of protection as he learns to navigate his community more independently. Colton is working hard to build trust with the adults in his life, and taking safety seriously is another way he can demonstrate that maturity. This helmet would help him feel confident knowing he has the protection he needs as he takes this exciting step toward greater independence.
