Via grew up in a deeply religious household, but when they found the courage to come out as queer, they were met with rejection instead of acceptance. Rather than receiving the love, understanding, and protection every child deserves, Via was kicked out of their home by their mother simply for being who they are. They entered foster care and eventually aged out of the system, having spent some of their most important years without the stability, security, and unconditional love of a family. Despite the painful experiences they have endured, Via has found joy in creativity and self-expression. They love photography and attending drag shows, where they can be surrounded by people who celebrate individuality, authenticity, and the freedom to be themselves. After spending so much of their childhood feeling unwanted for who they are, Via deserves a future filled with acceptance, happiness, belonging, and the freedom to live unapologetically as themselves.

Staples recently cut Via's hours, leaving them with less income to cover everyday expenses. They are working to turn their passion for photography into extra income, but transportation costs make it hard to get to photography jobs. An Uber gift card would help Via pursue these opportunities without sacrificing money for necessities, allowing them to gain experience and continue working toward greater financial independence through something they love.
